Department of Physics

The Department, established in 1957 with the induction of BSc Physics, started its PG programme in 2000 and currently runs two interdisciplinary modules as well.

• Physics Association was inaugurated by Dr. George Samuel Rtd. Scientist, BARC on 13^th August 2009.He conducted a Seminar on the topic “Nuclear Radiation Hazards”.
  

• Rani George secured I^st Rank in B.Sc. Physics of Mahatma Gandhi University.




• Public Awareness Program on Natural & Man Made Radiations around us by the IARP, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay on 10^th February 2009 was organized Dept. of Physics.




• As Golden Jubilee Memorial, the Dept. of Physics was conducted an All Kerala Intercollegiate Project Presentation Competition for Physics students in UG & PG Colleges on 28^th January 2009. The winners are :
           I Prize    -  CMS College, Kottyam
           II Prize   -  Devamatha College, Kuruvilangadu
           III Prize  -  Assumption College, Chanaganacherry.

  
  

• The association organized an invited talk on “Global Warming” by Dr. Varkey Mathew, Head of the Dept. of Chemistry Baselius College Kottayam for 2^nd Year and 3^rd year B.Sc. students on 25^th November 2008.
  
  

• Lilly Joseph and Joli Joseph attended a National Seminar on Space Science Chandrayaan- Mahatma Gandhi University Silver Jubilee Seminar at N. S.S College Changanacherry.
  
  

• Physics Association organized an Inter Collegiate Physics Quiz Competition in memory of Prof. Brigeethamma John and Prof. Kunjamma Mathew. Eleven teams were participated. Prize winners are :
  
              I Prize       :     S.B College Chanaganacherry.
              II Prize      :     Marthoam College Tiruvalla.
              III Prize     :     Baseliuas College , Kottayam
  
  

• The Dept. and the students took part in Mission day Celebration on 21^st October 2008.
  
  

• Association conducted an essay writing competition in connection with Hiroshima & Nagasaki Day on 8^th August. The topic was "Nuclear deal- the need of the hour". The winners are  :

• The Physics Association celebrated fresher’s Day on 7^th August 2008.
  
  

• Smt. Joli Joseph and Sr. Elsamma Job attended workshop on Mentoring at St. Berchman’s College Changanacherry organized by Xavier Board for Highier Education in India on July 11^th & 12^th 2008.
