Department of Physical Education

The faculty of Physical Education was started in the College in 1956. Until 1983 our students participated in the intercollegiate tournaments of the undivided Kerala University. The Department is running a UGC sponsored Add-on certificate course in Health Management, Yoga and Beauty Care and a module in Aerobics.

• Winners in the Bishop Vayalil memorial Volleyball tournament held at Alphonsa College Pala on 5^th and 6^th October 2009.
  

• Champions in the Under 20 and Overall Runner-up in the Kottayam District Athletic Championship held at Pala on 25^th to 27^th September 2009.
  

• Asmabeevi M A was the Member of the M G University Cross Country team which won All India Inter University Cross Country Championship held on 19^th September 2009.
  

• Our College Volleyball Team won the Rev. Sr. Goretti Memorial All Kerala Inter Collegiate Volley Ball Tournament held at St. Stephen’s College, Uzhavoor held on 16^th September 2009.
  
  

• 19^th Rev. Sr. Tresa Mary Memorial All Kerala Inter Collegiate Volleyball Tournament & 11^th Assumption College Golden Jubilee Memorial All Kerala Inter Collegiate Basketball Tournament held from 16^th to 19^th August 2009.18 teams from all over Kerala participated in the Tournament. Assumption College won the Championship. In Volley Ball Tournament Alphonsa College Pala was the runner up and in the Basket Ball Tournament St. Xaviers College Aluva was the runner up.

• Our Basket ball team was the runner up in the Sr. Redempta memorial All Kerala Basketball Tournament at St. Xaviers College Aluva on 25^th - 27^th August 2009.
  
  

• Cross Country team were the runner up in the M G University Intercollegiate Cross Country Championship held at St. Joseph College Moolamattom on 26^th August 2009.
  
  

• Basket ball team were the runner up in the Baseleus trophy Basketball tournament held on 17^th - 18^th August 2009.
  
  

• Liksy secured Gold in Long jump in the South zone Nationals held at Cochin on 12^th to 14^th August 2009.
  
  

• Niksy Joseph secured Gold Heptathlone in the South Zone Nationals held at Cochin on 12^th to 14^th August 2009.
  
  

• Renuka P secured Gold in 10km walk in the South zone Nationals held at Cochi on 12^th to 14^th August 2009.
  
  

• Neethu Mathew secured Gold in 4*400 Relay in the South zone National athletic meet at Cochi on August 2009.
  
  

• Asma Beevi M A secured Bronze Medal in 3000 M Race in the South zone National athletic meet at Cochi on August 2009.
  
  

• Assumption College Athletic team which won the Overall Women Under 20 Championships in the VII All Kerala Interclub Athletic meet held at Maharajas College ground, Ernakulam on July 31^st to 2^nd August 2009.

• Liksy Joseph won Silver Medal in Heptathlone in the Junior National Athletic Meet held at Mysore on 14^th to 17^th November 2008.

• Assumption Handball Team won M.G. University Intercollegiate Handball Championship held at Nirmala College Moovattupuzha on 21 ^st & 22 ^ndOctober 2008. We won the Championship for the 11^thconsecutive time.
  
  

• Jomy Jose of II BA Economics was the member of Mahatma Gandhi University Women Cross Country team which won the All India Interuniversity Cross Country Championship held at M.G. University Rothak on 6^th October 2008.

• Our College Athletic Team Won Ten Gold, Five Silver, Four Bronze medals & the Overall Championship in the Interclub Athletic Meet held at Ernakulam on 1^st, 2^nd 3^rd  August 2008.

• Sabitha K- Represented India for the Asian Senior Women Handball championship held in India in June 2008. She also captained the M. G University Handball team for the All India inter University Championship 2008-09.
