Department of Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics formally came into being in 1963 when BSc Mathematics main started with Astronomy and Statistics as subsidiary subjects. Currently the Department offers BSc Degree Course in Mathematics (with Statistics and Physics as subsidiary subjects) and a Practice Test Series in Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude to equip students for competitive examinations.

• Ani C Babu and Mariam Philip of II DC Mathematics has secured first prize for Intercollegiate Mathematics Quiz Competiotion held at both Alphonsa College and St. Thomas College Pala 18^th and 19^th January 2010.
  

• Mathematics Association was inaugurated by Dr. G. Indulal, Lecturer, St. Aloysius College, Edathua on 20^th August 2009.
  

• Prof. Mariamma Joseph(1979-2009) retires on 31^st March 2009 after 30 years of dedicated service in the Dept. of Mathematics.
  

• Sreerenji R and Bushra Basheer of II DC were secured 2^nd prize in the All Kerala Inter Collegiate Mathematics Quiz Competition held at Bishop Moore College Mavelikkara on 16^th February 2009.
  

• Ms. Rinsy Thomas attended Refresser course at Academic Staff College, Kariavattom from 2^nd to 22^nd January 2009.
  

• Prof. Rosamma V A attended National Seminar on The Role of Women in the Emerging Indian Society. Organized by Research and PG Dept. of History, Assumption College Chanaganacherry, on 12^th,13^th and 14^th January 2009.
  

• Problem solving competition was conducted on 7^th January 2009 .Sreerenji R, Rajeswari J, Mariam Philip were secured first, second and third places respectively.
  

• Our respectful homage to our former teacher Rev. Sr. Beneeasia T Kakkanattu (1966-1993) who left us for her eternal peace on 22^nd December 2008.
  

• Smt. Rosamma V A attended Two day colloquium on Faith and Youth Formation. Catholic Response to Contemporary Challenges organized by Xavier Board of Higher Education, Kerala North- South Region on 28^th & 29^th Nov. 2008, at Ashirbhavan Ernakulam.
  

• Veena Kuruvilla and Renjitha K Kumar were participated in the Inter Collegiate Competition held at Niramala College Muvattupuzha on 27^th November 2008.
  

• Deethu Devaraj and Theresa Rani George were participated in the Inter Collegiate Mathematics Quiz Competition held at Deva Matha College, Kuravilanagadu on 26^th November 2008.
  

• Smt. Rosamma V A attended National Seminar on Convexity in Graph Theory- Recent Developments NCCG 2008 organized by Dept. of Mathematics S. B College , Changanachery, on 20^th -22^nd Nov. 2008.
  

• Vidya V Gopal and Teresa Rani George were participated in the Inter Collegiate Mathematics Quiz Competition held at Bascellius College, Kottayam on 18^th November 2008.
  

• Prof. Rosamma V A attended National Seminar on The Relevance of Community Colleges in the Kerala Scenario organized by ICRDCE, Chennai and Archbishop Powathil Assumption Community College(APACC), Chanaganacherry on 1^st Nov.2008.
  

• We offer Practice Test Series in Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude.
