1949

Msgr. James Kalassery laid the foundation stone 

1950

The institution got affiliated to Kerala University and started functioning as an annexe of S.B. College. Intermediate courses started.

1951

Recognized as a Second Grade College 

1955

The College was de-annexed from S.B College & became independent 

1956-57

Pre-University Classes Started 1

1957-58

The College was raised to a First Grade college with the introduction of degree courses in Arts and Sciences: - Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. 

1961

N.CC started 

1964

Pre-degree started 

1979

College celebrated its Silver Jubilee  , N.S.S Started

1979

College undertakes UGC sponsored National Adult Education Programme [NAEP] with a view to educate 900 illiterate adults every year

1983

Got Affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University. Community Outreach Programme “Assumption Jyothis” funded by United Board of Christian Higher Education Asia, to educate 200 women who belong to the nearby colonies undertaken. 

1988

Hosted the National Integration Camp of N.S.S. attended by 180 students from 23 different Universities 

1991-92 to 1994-95

Won the Malayala Manorama award for the best College in Sports & Games Under Mahatma Gandhi University consecutively for four times.

1996 – 1997

Assumption College won the prestigious R. Shankar award (instituted by the Government of Kerala) for the best college in the state 

1999

Distance education Programme of M.G.University started. 

OIKONOMIA- an inter-collegiate competition in Paper Presentation and Debate started Alumni Association [AASA] formally inaugurated 

2000

The College Celebrated its Golden Jubilee and instituted inter collegiate basketball tournament and Elocution Competition in English & Malayalam. 

Organised National Seminar on Women's Movement, Women's Studies: Poised Between Centuries. 

Assumption Institute of Technology [AITECH] was started and several job oriented and computer-based courses were launched. Internet facilities came to Assumption 

2001

Assumption College became the first recipient of the Award instituted by Kerala Sports Council for The Best College for Sports & Games. 

Assumption becomes Sub-centre for the Centre for Continuing Education Kerala. 

Sr. Geo Maria, Principal, was nominated Syndicate member of the M.G. University by the Government of Kerala, the first nun to be so honoured. 

Pre-Degree delinking completed. 

2002

Bachelor of Fashion Technology (BFT ) Course (self financing) UGC sponsored is introduced.

Off-Campus Courses of M G University commence.

P G Course in Home Science - Branch X E - Food Service Management and Dietetics (self financing) is started.

Assumption wins overall championship in the ‘College Games - 2002’.

2003

We became the first Arts & Science College in India to inaugurate OPEN NSS programme. 

Our Faculty I’ma Neerakal was selected for Young Scientist Award by the Kerala Government. 

Our Students Chitra K.Soman and K.M Greeshma represented India in SAF Games and Afro Asian Games 

Laid the foundation stone of Community College and Center for Women’s Studies 

Post Graduate Course in English (self financing) is introduced.

Assumption wins the overall championship in the ‘College Games 2003’.

Women Champions in the College Games conducted by Kerala Sports Council.

2004

Full networking of the whole campus was undertaken. 

Our Student Chitra K. Soman represented India in the Athens Olympics 
UGC sponsored Career Oriented Add-on Courses are introduced.

MSW and B Com (self financing) Courses are launched.

2005

11 February, Archbishop Powathil Assumption Community College is inaugurated by His Excellency Archbishop Pedro Lopez Quintana Apostolic Nuncio to the Republic of India an Kingdom of Nepal. 

UGC sponsored BA Muselogy & Archaelogy cource is introduced in the College. 

Centre for Women's Studies is established. 
Our alumna Jetty C Joseph wins G V Raja Award.

2006

Wins the Overall Championship in College Games 2006. 

Chitra K Soman wins silver medal at the Melbourne Common Wealth Games. 

Open NSS gets MG University award for the Most Innovative Programme in the affiliated colleges.

2007

Reaccreditation by NAAC with an 'A' Grade status in February 2007. 

Assumption College is honoured with 'Shiksha Bharati Award' instituted by Indian Achievers Forum, New Delhi in April 2007. 

Becomes the receipient of 'Gyan Bharati Shiksha Award' by Global Management Council, Ahamadabad, Gujarath in May 2007. 

College bagged the prestigious 'Bharatiya Shiksha Ratan Award' of the Economic for Health and Educational Growth, New Delhi in May 2007. 

College receives the Sr. Tessa Award instituted by Citizens of Kochi for the Best College in M.G. University for her achievements during the year 2005-06. 

“C.H Muhammed Koya Award” instituted by C H Foundations for excellence in innovative education to APAAC. 

The Dept. of History gets recognition as Research Centre, M.G University. 

Rev. Sr. Mary Kaithamattom(Former Principal-2005 - ’07) passed away on 5th September. 

Computer General Lab is renamed as CAPTECH(Cardinal Antony Padiyara Technical Institute). 

Golden Jubilee year for five Departments- Department of Botany, Chemistry, Economics, Physics and Zoology. 

2008

Inauguration of " Pope John Paul II Indoor Stadium " & " Mar Powathil Hall" . 

Setting up of Assumption Heritage Museum. 

Inauguration of Research Centre in Dept. of History, Introduction of DTP Centre and Internet Cafe. 

Introduction to UGC Sponsored Add on courses in “Journalism and Mass Communication” and “Tally". 

College wins the prestigious “Sr Hertwige’s National Award” for the Best College, instituted by the Xavier Board of Higher Education in India. 

Our Alumina Olympian Chitra K Soman received the Arjuna Award for the outstanding sports person in India.

2009

Introduction of Choice Based Credit and Semester System in the Under Graduate Programme.

U G C Sponsored Career Oriented Add on course in ‘Tourism Studies’ begins.

‘Diamond Jubilee’ celebrations commence.

College becomes a Partner-Institute of IGNOU’s Convergence Scheme, and started B Com, M Com courses.

P S Job award by AIACHE for the best innovative programme implemented in the college

2010

Winner of Malayala Manorama trophy and a cash award of Rs. 50,000/- for the overall champions in M G Unviersity Sports & Games for the academic year 2009-2010.

Introduction of Centralised Allotment Process (CAP) to PG Admission.

Introduction of BBA and MCA the Convergence Scheme of IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University)

Dr Sr Mercy Nedumpuram becomes the Director of APACC.

2011

Assumption wins the overall Champtionship in the MG University Athletic Meet 2011.
