Department of Fashion Technology

The Bachelors Degree in Fashion Technology, which is the only three-year degree program of its kind in Kerala, was started in 2002. This UGC sponsored program, developed in consultation with NIFT trained professionals, offers rigorous training in Fashion Design, Apparel Merchandising, Textile Science and Garment Production Technology. A Diploma Course in Textile Design was offered for three years and now the Department offers short-term modules in Traditional Indian Embroidery and Glass Painting.

• Effervescence “The Design Collection 2009” showcased the creatively designed garments created by our 5^th batch BFT Students, held on June 4^th 2009 at Contour Resorts. Famous Models presented 22 collections based on creative themes and inspirations from Ayur Vastra, Nature, Painting, Movies grabbed the audience’s attention.
     The show was inaugurated by Dr. Rajan Varghese(Pro Vice Chancellor, M G University, Kottayam). Mrs. Maria Philipose Sinha(Fashion Consultant, Lakme India Fashion Week, Mumbai) Special Guest, Rev. Dr. Suma Rose, Principal, Assumption College, felicitated the function . Celebrities from film and Fashion industries also graced the Occasion.

• The Design Collection 2008 of BFT EFFERVESCENCE was conducted on 7^th June 2008 at Acropolis Hall, Hotel Arcadia, Kottayam. The show was inaugurated by Kottayam District Collector Dr. Sharmila Mary Joseph .Smt. Reeba Varkey, Municipal Chair person, Kottyam and Smt. Mariam Mammen Mathew, Chief Executive Manager Malayala Manorama online felicitated the function.
