Department of Economics

The Department of Economics, established in 1957, currently offers the undergraduate programme in Economics and three additional modules-Basic Mathematics for Economics, Indian Economy for Competitive Exams and Research Methodology for Social Sciences.

• Economics Association 2008-09 was inaugurated by Sri Rakesh Krishnan, Facualty Rajagiri School of Social Science on 13^th August 2009.
  

• Dept. of Economics conducted an Exhibition of piece of works done by students as a part of Croche designing training programme on 23^rd January 2009.




• A seminar on “Entrepreneurship Development” was conducted by Dept. of Economics on Jan 21^st 2009.The Topic was “Carrier Prospects as an Entrepreneur- Opportunities and Challenges. It was done by Mr. John Zacharia, Principal Kadhi Gramodyay, Govt. of India




• Oikonomia (2008-09) a two day Educational Fest and All Kerala Inter Collegiate Competition was held on 27^th & 28^th November 2008 and was inaugurated by Dr. T. V. Muralivallabham., Reader Dept. of Economics, S.V.R N.S. S Vazhoor College. The first day saw students competing in Intercollegiate Paper Presentation and Biztime. The second day witnessed Inter Collegiate Debate Competition . The Valedictory function was inaugurated by Dr. Kochurani, , faculty of Bharat Mata College.
  
  

• In connection with the enrichment programmes Dept. of Economics invited Sir John Zachrias, Principal af Khadi Gramodyog V idyalaya to deliver an informative talk on –How to start an enterprise?
  
  

• Dept. of Economics conducted "Croche" designing as part of their Enrichment Programmes, is association with CHASS- Social Service Society.
  
  

• Dept. of Economics conducted a Poster Designing competition on 12^th October 2008.
  
  

• World Food Day was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Thomas Peeliyanickal, Executive Director, Kuttanad Vikasana Samathi on 16^th October 2008.
