  • Department of Commerce is organizing a National Seminar on “Impact of Global Recession on Indian Economy” on 23rd & 24th of September 2009, inaugurated by Dr. Rajan Gurukal, Hon. Vice Chancellor, M G University .Paper presentation and Technical Session are the main events of the Seminar.

  • The CSM Unit is organizing an Inter Collegiate Camp Sursum Corda 09(Lift Up Your hearts) scheduled from 18th to 20th September 2009.
    This programme is an attempt to train and strengthen our youngsters in Christian values and to equip them with the required convictions and skills to keep pace with the changes and challenges of the modern world.

  • We are proud to announce that this year Assumption College completes Sixty years of service in the field of women's higher education.
              Through the past sixty years, she has upheld the vision of her founders, while evolving with the times to suit the changing requirements in higher education. For us, this is not only a time of rejoicing and thanksgiving but also of introspection and re-dedication.

  • The Research and P G Department of History is organising an International Coins and Currency Exhibition on 14th and 15th July 2009 at Mar Powathil Hall in Assumption College. This is an excellent opportunity to get a first hand information about International Numismatics.

The show will be inaugurated by Dr. Rajan Varghese(Pro-Vice Chancellor, M. G. University Kottyam). Mrs. Maria Philipose Sinha (Fashion Designer Mumbai) will felicitate the Function. Celebrities from Film and Fashion industries will also grace the occasion.

  • The Department of History is organizing a UGC sponsored Three Day National Seminar from 12-14 January 2009. The Seminar titled "Role of Women in the Emerging Indian Society" will be inaugurated by Smt. Padma Ramachandran IAS. The Key speaker is Dr. M.   • Dept. of Fashion Technology is presenting to you “Fashion Meets Culture 2008” -a striking journey into the world of India’s splendid cultural heritage, an exiting culmination of the second year BFT student’s one month intensive research on the life styles, arts and crafts of various parts of India. The program is a documentation of the student’s quest for the stories behind the crafts, arts, and lifestyles of the people of the Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. The documentation will be followed by vibrant and colourful Fashion Show.

  • Assumption College is conducting a National Seminar on “MEDIA AND CULTURE” on 3rd December 2008 under the auspices of the Add-on course in Journalism and Mass Communication in association with St. Joseph College of Communication Kurisummood. Shri Vayalar Ravi, Hon’ble Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs will inaugurate the function at 10.am in the Pope John Paul II Indoor Stadium. Prof. John Sankaramanagalam, Principal SJCC, Chanaganacherry will present a paper on MEDIA AND CULTURE followed by an interactive session. In the afternoon there will be a Symposium on “Transition in the media Culture” by Mr. C P Rajashekaran , Director, Educational FM Channel of IGNOU and thereafter a panel discussion by representatives from the media.

  • The Dept. of Home Science is conducting the Annual Intercollegiate Quiz Competition Nutritia 08 on 26th November 2008 at 11 am in the Seminar hall .On the same day at 2 pm Dr. Sebastian Abraham MD DM, Medical College, Kottayam will deliver a seminar and Open discussion on Diabetes in the College Auditorium.

  • The fourth Inter-Collegiate literary competitions organized by the Dept. of English of Assumption College,”Zenith” will be held on 20th November 2008. The programmes will begin at 9.30 am. There will be exiting competitions that test the creativity and literary capabilities of students.

  • Foreseeing resilience the Dept of Social Work is organizing a two day seminar on “Re-accentuating Mental Health Perspectives in Social Work Practice” on 29th and 30th of August 2008.

    The Seminar aims at exploring and analyzing the promotive aspects of mental health as well to widen the knowledge base through scientific input sessions. Seminar focus at enhancing the skills attributed to mental health professionals and to provide a platform for sharing research experiences in the field of mental health.
