The Placement Cell of Assumption started getting really active by 2001-2002.Even then it was not very easy getting agencies to include us in recruitment programmes. But we were able to get placement offers for Communicative English and Fashion Technology students, though the former prefer to go for higher studies. It was only with the boom in IT and related industries that Arts and Sciences Colleges like Assumption were targeted.

The Placement cell started functioning during the academic 2006-2007 with an intimation from Infosys regarding its Campus ambassador Programme.It was conducted on 13th September 2006. Ms.Gunjan
Govani, Infosys Executive chose Priya Joseph of III B.A English Literature as the Campus Ambassador.

There were visits from Frankfinn Institute of Air Hostess Training and Campus Abroad. There were also various Job Fairs conducted by Shreds, Big Leap Solutions and Versat Consultancy Services. Many students participated in these job fairs and also in the campus recruitment programme conducted by
Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Genpact. |

CAP (Campus Ambassador Program)
After being selected as the ambassador from Assumption College, I was asked to go to Bangalore for a weeks training. We left for Bangalore on the 23rd and on reaching Bangalore we were taken to the main Infosys campus in Bangalore.We were told that we would spend the first three days in Bangalore and the next four days in ILI Mysore (the main training center of Infosys)
For first three days in Bangalore, we had talks by eminent personalities like Mr.Amitabh Chaudhry (the CEO of the Infosys BPO industry), Mr.Subrat Mukherjee (team leader). We also had a session-"WALK THE FLOOR". In this session we went to the offices and saw how they worked.
On the 25th,we left for Mysore.The actual training began in Mysore.This was given to us in the form of Business Games like mazes, promotion of a service or building in ILI Mysore and a ten minute presentation on the things we learnt in those seven days.
The days spent in Bangalore and Mysore has taught me a lot. It has definitely boosted my self-confidence, taught me how to work in a team, be creative and also how to make a lasting impact on people. Altogether it was once in a lifetime experience that I had got in a weeks time.
