Rules Regarding Admission
  • Students seeking admission to this college should apply in the prescribed admission form in Word format.

  • The form can be downloaded from the website of the college and can be submitted online [ in the address ac@assumptioncollege.in ] before the deadline. However for processing it, a hardcopy of the same taken in triplicate and a crossed DD of Rs. 75/- for B.A/B.Sc/M.A./ M.Sc, Rs.325/- for MSW, Rs.525/- for Fashion Technology, taken in favour of the Principal, Assumption College should be sent to the following address:

  • Those who are submitting online should enclose three self addressed duly stamped envelopes along with the application form


  • The Register number of the application should be quoted in all correspondences regarding admission.


  • Admission to all classes in aided stream is governed by the following items of the agreement between the Management of the College and the Government of Kerala.

    a)   50% of the seats will be filled by open selection on the basis of merit.

    b)   10% of the seats shall be reserved for the Catholic Students of the Archdiocese of  Changanassery. These seats will be filled strictly on the basis of merit.

    c)   20% of the total number of seats shall be reserved for the students belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. The seats that cannot be filled on this basis shall be filled on the basis of merit from the applicants belonging to O.B.C.

    d)   20% seats will be filled by the Management's choice on suggestion from the committee constituted for this. There is special weightage to educationally backward areas and low income groups.

    e)   3% seats in all the courses will be reserved for students with disabilities.


  • The Management of the college appoints a committee every year for the purpose of selection of students under (d) above. This committee makes the selection giving special weightage to educationally backward areas and low-income groups.


  • The selection of students under (a) to (c) above will be governed by the revised rules of the Mahatma Gandhi University, in accordance with the state policy.


  • For every subject for which admission is sought there shall be a selection committee with the Principal as the Chairperson and the Head of the Department of the subject concerned for Degree course and one member nominated by the Management.


  • The selection committee will prepare the selection list for each subject from the applications received.


  • Subject to any rules of reservation that the University may make for the purpose the selection shall be on the basis of merit generally governed by the condition of agreement relating to the Direct payment.


  • The merit of the candidate shall be assessed on the basis of the marks obtained by her in the qualifying examination for admission to the particular course, subject to such criteria as may be prescribed by the University in assessing the merit. The selection committee shall be competent to award marks for extra-curricular activities like sports, N C C, N S S. etc. of the student. These marks shall also be added to the marks obtained for the qualifying examination in drawing up the selection list. Bonus marks will be awarded to children of ex-servicemen.


  • Rules relating to the allotment of marks for sports, N C C etc. will be separately laid down. The rules regarding reservation of seatsto scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward communities will be strictly followed. The N C C Cadets who have certificates are eligible for the bonus marks.


  • Students seeking admission to this college should apply in the prescribed form.


  • The register number of the application should be quoted in all correspondence regarding admission.


  • The register number of selected candidates will be put up on the College Notice Board and intimation card assigning the date of interview with the Principal will be sent to them. They should come with their parent /guardian for the interview and have the following documents with them:

    i)  Intimation Card

    ii)  Transfer Certificate

    iii)  Qualifying certificate

  • Migration certificate in the case of students from other Universities


  • Character certificate from the Head of the institution previously attended.


  • Community certificate in the case of S C / S T and also Income certificate in the case of O B C students.


  • Income certificate in the case of low-income group students.


  • A passport size photograph.


  • First installment of fees.


    Note: Candidates who fail to turn up for the interview fixed will forfeit the chance of admission to the College. Pass Certificate, once submitted, will not be returned to the students during the course except when leaving the College. Students are therefore advised in their own interest, to keep attested true copies of the certificate withthem before submitting it for admission.


  • Seats under Community Merit (10%) are meant only for the Catholic Students of the Archdiocese of Changanassery and they should fill in the special form for them.


  • If a student leaves the college after the enrollment, she will have to pay the fees for the first term as per schedule of fees.


  • Students belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, other backward community and Christian converts are exempted from payment of fees. They should, however, produce a certificate of community and income from the Tahsildar concerned at the time of admission.


  • Candidates who wish to avail themselves of the benefit of full fee concession under K P C R scheme should submit their application in the prescribed form at the time of admission. Students are eligible for this concession provided the annual family income is under the limit given below. B A / B Sc - below Rs 25,000/-

    Such students pay only the caution deposit and special fee at the time of admission. No other scholarship, fee concession, stipend etc. can be availed of by these students.


  • Admission can be secured only on payment of the first installment of fees as shown in the schedule.


  • Any candidate who is found to have secured admission by false representation will be forthwith sent away and she shall forfeit whatever fees she has remitted.
